A thick & robust wheel-thrown form.
Unglazed combed texture at the rim

A thinly thrown bowl whose form has been deconstructed a little, darted, & reassembled.
An opening left in the side makes the bowl a bit more like a basket.
A rusty matte glaze inside & out.

Another in the series of wheel-thrown vases, disassembled & remade.

Elements of the form, trimmed off during the throwing process, have been flung back at the bottle, reattaching & forming an unpredictable addition to the shape.

The teapot is designed for use - pours beautifully & holds about two cups.

A dense astral green outside, the famous ‘Reitz Green,’ formulated by American studio potter Don Reitz.
Unglazed regions at the rim & foot reveal the rugged texture of the local clay from Abiquiu, New Mexico

A robust wheel-thrown form, glazed inside & out with a smooth, glassy, shino.
Combed, unglazed, texture at the rim. The bowl is designed for use - dishwasher safe & kitchen worthy.

These chunky rough forms started on the wheel. Halfway dry, the clay was cut free, handled rapidly, stretched flat.
A translucent alkaline glaze flows & pools, a recipe I mixed up using local clay & wood ash.
Kitchen-worthy & designed for use.

On many days, my go-to favorite form to throw, the tall vase, lots of empty space inside, room across the shoulder for the drippy brush of porcelain slip to trail & move.
A dry satin-matte ash glaze over the slip layer.
Glazed white inside.

Loose flat forms that started, as you see, as sides of something thrown on the wheel.
The clay is allowed to dry a bit, then cut free & stretched to a flat square - there are the thumbs of the potter, pulling at the corners.
A satin rust-yellow glaze.
.5” x 8” x 6” (bigger one - the smaller is 7” x 6”)
A tall, lidded, autumnal form. Glazed white inside. A dry brown-yellow glaze outside.

An open flat platter, glazed white, with splashes & brushstrokes of cobalt & rutile color.

Casual drippy brushstrokes of white slip under the green-gray celadon glaze.
This was a piece that sat out for a couple firings, till I forgot what was happening with it, or when I made it. June?
