Potter's Wheel Primer Thursday evenings October 23 - December 18

$375.00

This class introduces the potter’s wheel, and explores basics of the pottery-making process. It also provides a terrific introduction to our small studio here at Green River Pottery. 8 weekly class meetings are included, with no meeting on November 27 (Thanksgiving). Registration is discounted this time, since, going into the holidays, everyone may miss a class meeting or two.

A great class if you’ve always wanted to try the wheel, or if it’s been a while. Our classes are easygoing, conversational, methodical with, somehow, room for spontaneity too. We’ll cover clay preparation, centering, throwing, trimming, making handles & lids, as well as glaze application.

Also a great class if you have some experience & would like a weekly studio session to help guide your projects & to learn helpful tips. Each class meeting includes demonstration, discussion, worktime.

We are delighted to have Wendy Jordan, a member of our studio production team, leading the Thursday evening class this time. Wendy’s wide-ranging interests include historical ceramic forms, pottery of Egypt & Jordan, using slips, stains, and layering glazes.

Your class registration includes access to our worktime calendar to plan your independent sessions in the studio throughout the week & weekend (the calendar does charge $15 per three-hour session).

We’ll be working with cone 6 clay.

Note: by placing your order for this class, you're consenting to our Participation Guidelines & Liability Release form. Please take a moment to review this form before signing up. Thank you!
