Geo-Ceramic Slide Talk 5pm July 17

$12.00

If you’re signed up for the following day’s field trip to the Harding Mine in the Embudo River Valley, you’re already enrolled for this pre-trip presentation.

If you’d just like to attend the talk & not the field trip also, feel free to enroll here.

Our resident geologists, Elena Miranda & Josh Schwartz, will discuss the geology of Northern New Mexico, and focus on the Harding Mine near Embudo, where materials we commonly use in the clay studio can be identified & collected.

This year our field trip will also visit two wineries. Our pre-trip slide talk will provide an opportunity to sample wines from the Embudo Valley, and to consider geology & wine for a moment. Do soil chemistry & geologic conditions affect wine? How did Northern New Mexico become the first 'terroir' of North America?

Jenna Mahay of Blue Sage Gardens will lead a tasting.

Time: Friday July 17, 5pm - 6:30pm

Place: Green River Pottery on Lena Street. We’ll meet upstairs in our ‘A3’ studio, adjacent to Iconik coffee.

Cost: $12
